Maria Valtorta is considered to be one of the most edifying visionaries of our time, in that she recorded the most comprehensive and detailed Private Revelation of the Gospels ever; "The Gospel as it Was Revealed to Me" in Italy, and later published in English as the "Poem of the Man-God" after her death. Some object to the term "Man-God", unbeknownst that "Man-God" was used in several Papal Encyclicals, particularly by Pope John Paul II (Ioannes Paulus PP II - Dives in Misericordia). She was born in Caserta, Italy in 1897, passed away in Viareggio in 1961 and is buried under the altar of the Capitular Chapel of the Servants of Mary at The Basilica of the Annunciation in Florence, Italy. Her dictations and visions took place during the times of WWII and give a wonderfully detailed account of the lives of Jesus and Mary.

Maria Valtorta’s visions are the only Private Revelations to attain a Papal Order to Publish. Her writings were presented to Pope Pius XII on April 3rd of 1947, who examined them for eleven months. His Holiness then summoned her Spiritual Director to a special meeting in February of 1948, in which He ordered the publishing before three Priests: Fr. Romualdo M. Migliorini (Prefect Apostle in Africa), Fr. Corrado Berti (Professor of Dogmatic and Sacramental Theology at the Pontifical "Marianum" Theological Faculty of Rome from 1939 onward, later becoming Secretary of the Faculty from 1950 to 1959, as well as consultant to the Fathers of the Second Vatican Council), and Fr. Andrew M. Cecchin (Prior of the International College of the Servites of Mary in Rome). These aforementioned Priests documented this event immediately afterwards with signed testimony. The fact that the Pope did grant this audience was historically documented the next day, February 27, 1948 in L’Osservatore Romano Citta Del Vaticano, no. 48, p.1.

"In 1987, Vatican Cardinal Edouard Gagnon was persuaded to locate and evaluate the original minutes from the February 26, 1948 Papal meeting transcribed by the Vatican Recording Cardinal who accompanied Pope Pius XII". Originally incredulous, a few weeks later he courageously wrote from the Vatican that Pope Pius XII's action was: "The kind of official Imprimatur granted before witnesses by the Holy Father in 1948. An "Official Imprimatur" of the Supreme Authority of the Church". Cardinal Gagnon was the Peritus during the second Vatican Council, (expert Theologian Advisor and Consultant). He had a Doctorate in Theology and taught Canon law for ten years at the Grand Seminary. He also served as President of the Vatican Council. The Code of Canon Law - Book II, Part II, Section I, Chapter I, Article I - gives the Pope full and supreme power over all levels of the Church and free use to exercise this power. The Papal order came first. Canon law prohibits this Papal order from being reversed by subordinate levels of Church authority. Canon law clearly requires that this Papal order be embraced with unconditional acceptance and submission.

IV, p.IX: "So, then, if anyone says that the Roman Pontiff has merely an office of supervision and guidance, and not the full and supreme power of jurisdiction over the whole Church, and this not only in matters of faith and morals, but also in those which concern the discipline and government of the Church dispersed throughout the whole world; or that he has only the principal part, but not the absolute fullness, of this supreme power; or that this power of his is not ordinary and immediate both over all and each of the Churches and over all and each of the pastors and faithful: let him be anathema." - Catechism of the Catholic Church, 883 - "The college or body of bishops has no authority unless united with the Roman Pontiff, Peter's successor, as its head."

Maria Valtorta's writings received and Imrimaturs from Bishop Roman Danylak (Titular Bishop of Nysea, Rome), Bishop Bonicilli (Abano, Italy) and Archbishop Soosa Pakiam of Trimandrum. In addition a Nihil Obstat was given to the "Poem of the Man-God" by Msgr. Luigi Lovazzano (Vicar-General). If the Vatican thought these Imprimaturs were in error, it would have requested them to be removed. Nonetheless, the Vatican has let these Imprimaturs stand.

Renowned Mariologist Father Gabriel Roschini, OSM was an outstanding advocate of Maria Valtorta's writings. Pope John Paul II often referred to Father Gabriel M. Roschini as one of the greatest Marioligists who ever lived. He was a decorated professor at the "Marianum" Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Rome, and an advisor to the Holy Office. He wrote over 130 Books on the Blessed Mother, all of which are in the Vatican Library. In his last book (which Father Gabriel said was his greatest, "The Virgin Mary In The Writings of Maria Valtorta"), the first two pages contain a letter of endorsement by Pope Paul VI. Page one displays a photocopy of the original letter in Italian complete with Vatican insignia, and page two contains the English translation. When Pope Paul VI was Archbishop of Milan, after evaluating "The Poem of the Man-God" by Maria Valtorta, He ordered her entire works to be sent to the Milan Seminary library.

On September 29, 2012 Pope Benedict XVI Beatified one of the most charismatic promoters of The Poem of the Man-God Blessed Gabriel Allegra, OFM, the only Scripture scholar to be Beatified in the 20^th century. His beatification commencement and a decree of a miracle were attributed to him and approved by Pope John Paul II on April 23, 2002. As a St. Jerome of our time, Blessed Allegra was the first one to translate the entire Bible into Chinese. He was an outspoken and avid long-time supporter of Maria Valtorta, and spent many years of his life studying, promoting, and defending the Poem of the Man-God. Both Holy Pontiffs were well aware of Blessed Gabriel Allegra's resolute dogmatic dedication of publishing articles advocating the Poem. According to Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, the secretary of Pope John Paul II, the Pontiff was an enthusiastic reader of Maria Valtorta. The Cardinal testifies to having often seen one of the volumes of The Gospel as Revealed to Me [a.k.a. Father Padre Pio was also an advocate of Maria Valtorta’s writings. One year before Padre Pio’s death, a woman named Mrs. Elisa Lucchi asked him if he advised reading "The Poem of the Man-God" by Maria Valtorta. He replied, "I don’t just advise you, I insist that you read it!".

Special Note: Chinese Catholics have a very special place in their hearts for Maria Valtorta's "Poem of the Man-God" as it was promulgated by Renowned Bible Scholar Fr. Gabriel M. Allegra, O.F.M.. Fr. Allegra is highly revered by Chinese Catholics for being the very first to translate the entire Catholic Bible into Chinese (for every one person who speaks English, there are five who speak Chinese). The cause for Fr. Allegra's Canonization was started in 1984 by Bishop John Wu in Hong Kong, 8 years after his death. He was declared venerable by the Holy See in 1994 and his decree of beatification was promulgated in 2002 by Pope John Paul II. The Roman Curia announced through the Sicilian Franciscan Holy Name Province, that Venerable Gabriel Allegra, O.F.M. was beatified on September 29, 2012, at the Cathedral of Arcireale, Catania in Sicilia. He authored a landmark 31 page article that fundamentally proves the authenticity of Maria Valtorta's writings. The "Poem of the Man-God" may be the very first Private Revelation ever to be scientifically proven genuine. David meticulously and methodically examines Maria Valtorta’s strikingly accurate descriptions of first Century Palestine for every piece of topographical evidence. He then compares this evidence with currently known facts that are only now being proven authentic. He has a charisma reminiscent of John the Baptist.

"Over thirty percent or 79 of the 255 geographical sites in Palestine mentioned in the Poem were not listed in the 1939 International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (ISBE) Atlas. 62 of these 79 were not even listed in the 184 page Macmillan Bible Atlas (MBA) published in 1968. Where did Maria Valtorta get all these names? For a first century eye-witness to include so many obscure and unknown names would, of course, be expected. And most surprising is that these names, obscure and unknown in the 1940’s, are being proven authentic. 52 of these 62 have no biblical reference whatever and 17 of these with no biblical reference have been either indirectly confirmed as authentic by recent "ancient external sources" found in the Macmillan Bible Atlas (1968) or actually listed in the HarperCollins Atlas of the Bible (1989). This makes a total of 29 confirmations since the 1939 ISBE atlas listing. Also among those 62 sites are mentioned the ruins of 6 ancient Palestinian cities some corresponding to the modern consensus on location. In addition, Valtorta’s precise descriptions of the natural topography of Palestine from numerous locations and the information about the outside pagan world of that day, including people, places, customs, Greek and Roman mythology, related in the conversations of that day, are strikingly correct."

The Greatest Gift

URGENT APPEAL FOR SISTERS IN ZAMBIA

A few months ago, a damaging fire occurred in the convent of the Zambia Sisters’ community which caused financial hardship to the whole community of which Sister Christine is Superior. Before the house burnt, the purchase of a new house was already on course and they put the burnt convent rebuilding on hold, to finish purchasing the new house, put it on rent, to contribute to rebuilding of the burnt convent. They need a lot of help with this rebuilding.

We are very appreciative to Medjugorje.com for writing a letter to Bishop Boland concerning Maria Valtorta, particularly worded:

"I am a close friend of Marija Pavlovic, one of the Visionaries in Medjugorje, and there is no question that she spoke to Our Lady and asked Her if one can read the Poem of the Man-God. Our Lady answered that it was acceptable to read."

In response, Cardinal Boland stated he sequentially wrote Cardinal Ratzinger, whom he claimed replied requesting the Publisher to include a disclaimer. The Publisher was willing to comply, provided Boland forwarded a copy of the original Cardinal Ratzinger letter. Boland was never forthcoming in providing anyone a copy of this letter. Moreover, only Boland's eyes seen the Cardinal Ratzinger letter in question. The publisher was hesitant, particularly due to the pedophile controversy Boland was becoming increasingly entangled in:

I find it very interesting.....that a person should, as they say, protesteth too loudly about something no-one has officially condemned. We see it with the Medjugorje apparitions, through the writings of such entities as Unity Publishing, where we see an earnest digging for anything resembling evidence against the validity of the apparitions. This page shows another example of an excessive earnestness to completely destroy something in a manner that completely disregards any good whatsoever. To me, this smells of evil. There is no peace or constructive/objective level-headedness in such writings and, because of the lack of objectivity, people read it half feeling they are being sold on something against their will. Thus, it breeds confusion and ill-feeling. And because of the blanket condemnation, there is no middle ground, where for example, a reasoning person can reject the bad, while retaining the good. Thus, such attempts at destruction are conceived in evil and the resulting fruits are wholly evil.
